Ahmad Agil, Full Professor (catedrático) at the University of Granada, Spain, and has completed postdoctoral fellowships at Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas (2 years) and Harvard Medical School, Boston (3 years) (USA). Has been nominated for, Younger Investigator Award by the USA (1996) for his research. He has published more than 65 articles in reputed journals of medicine (JAMA), of endocrinology & metabolism (Diabetes Care,..) and has been serving as section editor of the Journal Archive of Medical Sciences, an editorial board of Pharmacologia and acted as a reviewer of several Journals. He is involved in pharmacology teaching activities in the Medicine and Nursing degrees; and Postgraduate teaching activities in 3 official Master¿s programs. His main line of research based on free radical biology, antioxidants, and metabolism in both basic and clinical research, and during the last 10 years, he has published 44 original articles, to which he is the formal corresponding senior author of about half. Since 2010, he leads a multidisciplinary-international research team "Thermogenic tissues as a promising therapeutic target for obesity and its complications: the role of melatonin/agonists or others", studying the molecular mechanisms of the anti-obesity effect of melatonin and its consequences. The final objective is translational sustaining the potential use of antioxidants in new anti-obesity therapies in humans. He is the Principal Investigator of several research projects achieved from several institutions; as a result, he published 28 articles in high impact journals (Q1) (Biomedicines, Nutrients, Food, J. Clin. Med., Food & Function, Chem Biol Interac, Curr. Med. Chem,..), 8 articles in (d1) (7 in J Pineal Res & 1 in Transl Res). Our papers concerning the demonstration of melatonin activating beige & brown adipose tissue in (2013 & 2018) where they are pioneers within the area of metabolism, which have been confirmed and extended by groups throughout the world. He has trained 5 Ph.D. students and 4 postdoctoral fellows from numerous countries, and 4 ongoing Ph.D. theses (2 of them with corresponding observational trials). He is a member of the Department of Pharmacology (Faculty of Medicine) and Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Granada, and the Biosanitary Institute of Granada.
